Mikko Koho joins Vuono Group

Mikko Koho joins Vuono Group as a Data Scientist and AI Engineer.

We are thrilled to introduce Mikko, a Data Scientist and Software Developer talented in solving complex real-world problems with data science methods. He is a creative thinker who enjoys interdisciplinary teamwork and collaboration. Mikko has strong programming, data engineering and data analysis skills, which he loves to put into action in client work.

"I find joy in being able to focus fully on one project at a time. It allows me to contribute meaningfully and make a substantial impact on the projects I undertake. At Vuono Group I get to be part of interesting opportunities where I can apply my knowledge in practice. The dynamic nature of the projects here aligns perfectly with my passion for meaningful work," Mikko says.

Mikko has a strong academic background. His research focus is on applying Semantic Web technologies to integrate and harmonise heterogeneous, distributed datasets such as Linked Open Data. He also developed methods and tools for analysing, visualising, and exploring the data.

His academic focus is on multidisciplinary Digital Humanities research, collaborating with many cultural heritage organisations and humanities researchers. Mikko’s research has received several international awards. He received his D.Sc. (Tech.) at Aalto University in 2020, with the dissertation relating to the popular and internationally awarded WarSampo project. In 2021 and 2022 he led a team of 2-4 researchers in reconstructing Finnish 19th-century letter exchange networks.

Mikko's commitment to continuous learning doesn’t end in his academic achievements – it is evident in his everyday work as a consultant. Most recently, Mikko delved into modern full-stack software development and text generation. Embracing the challenges and innovations in these fields, he is dedicated to staying at the forefront of technology and contributing fresh perspectives to his work.

“Mikko's expertise in Knowledge Graphs, also known as Semantic Web or Linked Data, and ontologies is unparalleled. His proficiency in this domain brings a valuable perspective to our team, enriching our capabilities in handling complex data structures,” says Teemu Moisala, Founder at Vuono Group.

Beyond the world of codes, consulting and projects, Mikko is a birdwatching enthusiast, tabletop game aficionado, and avid runner.
